Let's Take a Celfie: The Original Edition

No two Celfies are the same with their hand painted faces, and we appreciate our customers giving each Celfie a unique look, so we thought it was about time we put together a round up of customers who love styling our original gal.

@FallonsFlowers

Fallon's Flowers, a North Carolina base for McCarthy Group Florists, named their resident Celfie vase Flora, and every Friday, they share a photo of Flora's new look on Instagram along with a breakdown of blooms used.

"Not only is [the Celfie] just adorable, but it's an outlet for creativity. Our designers love coming up with Flora's new 'do," says Taylor of McCarthy Group Florists. "It's a way to think differently about the flower varieties we have, and forces us to think about how we can craft the product to look like something Flora could  'wear.'

Here's a few of our favorite looks on Flora:

#AccentDecorMagic Style Challenge Winners

The results are in! One of our guest designers, Els Teunissen, along with our creative consultant and resident artist, Jessica Hiemstra, selected two winners for our #AccentDecorMagic contest.

The lucky winners? Julia of Rekindle Creative and Carey of The Idea Emporium.

Earlier this summer, we shared the inspiration behind our holiday showroom story, Eric and Eloise, with our customers and followers and asked them to share on Instagram a moody, Scandinavian-inspired floral design or styled look that incorporated a contrast of light and dark.

Our guest judges each picked their favorite look and the winners received $1000 each to shop Accent Decor.

So without further ado, the winners:

Best Floral Design: Rekindle Creative

Els loved the contrast of these light pink, romantic blooms against the dark backdrop. To help the arrangement pop, we love that Julia of Rekindle Creative used a concrete pedestal. Julia also chose the Benito pot for this look, giving her arrangement a multi-faceted dramatic mood.

"To give the best contrast between light and dark, I thought having a black backdrop would be the most dramatic and it definitely made the arrangement colors stand out more," Julia said. "I incorporated a variety of berries throughout the arrangement as well to give a hint of holiday feeling with florals in various shades of reds and creams."

Best Styled Look: The Idea Emporium

Scandinavian-inspired holiday decor by @TheIdeaEmporium for #AccentDecorMagic

Jessica chose this entry due to it capturing the sense of play, wonder, magic and mystery from our showroom story, Eric and Eloise.

"Not only is it a striking composition at first glance, but it is rewarding at a second glance," Jessica said. "From the little details of the trees to the miniature figurines of the fox and the hare, this photo captures the heart of the tale."

When Carey sat down to put a look together, we were surprised (and impressed!) to find out that she created twenty or so different vignettes before she was happy with the results.

"The most challenging part was filling the scene without adding clutter," Carey said.

She played with contrast in quite a few of her submissions, but ultimately it was the pop of those moody trees against the stark white wall that grabbed Jessica's attention.

"I fell in love with the story of Eric and Eloise so I knew I had to include a little fox and hare somewhere hidden in the scene," Carey said. "When I think of Scandinavian design, it's all about simplicity, so I wanted to keep the trees very two-dimensional rather than build full topiaries or use fresh branches, so it was off to the laser where I designed and cut the trees to interlock together."

9. Micro-LED Lights

Our battery operated LED string lights were a huge hit. Available in 6 different lengths, each offers an advantage depending on how customers wish to use them. For instance, florists loved our 7.5 ft strand with timer as the battery pack is water tight, allowing you to put the strand of lights under water. Another favorite was the 7.5 ft strand with remote - you could have as many strands as desired, all controlled by one remote.

Available in 6 different colors and looks, the macrame plant hangers were a huge hit at Market this summer. The hangers are made from sturdy, recycled cotton and come with a gold rod or wooden circle hanging feature.

Donald Yim, AIFD, designs for Accent Decor

This summer, we traveled to California to participate in the AIFD Symposium Partner Expo, as well as catch up with all our industry friends and scope out inspiring designs being presented throughout the duration of the symposium.

One AIFD member we particularly love catching up with is Donald Yim, AIFD, who designed the arrangements for our display at the Partner Expo.

Our display was modeled after our Baroque Bumble story, featuring modern metallics and black on black details alongside romantic floral prints inspired by Dutch still life paintings.

So when Donald Yim, AIFD told us he would help us out and design the florals for our display, we were beyond excited!

"Donald's style is modern and clean, and he's always up for designing something fun and different." Margaret Hofland, co-founder and Art Director for Accent Decor, said.

And when it came to inspiration for the booth, Donald found it from our new 2016 Spring collection.

"The new products have a lot of texture, [as well as] golden and warm colors that worked really well together," Donald said.

Donald is determined to find  his own style and identity amongst the best floral designers, and while he admits these are his biggest career challenges, his hard work and natural gift at connecting with people shows exactly what sets him apart.

Along with the beautiful flowers you see pictured, he brought in a lot of unusual and unique garden greens to enhance the products.

The results communicated that Donald is a master at balancing his personal style with the desires of the client and he stresses that good communication with your client is at the heart of a successful client relationship.

"Understand what they're looking for. You [can] put your personal spin on the design, but still maintain what your client is looking for," Donald said.

When Donald isn't creating beautiful arrangements, you can find him with camera in hand.

"I enjoy photography [and] learning how to see differently through the lens," Donald said.

And of course, one of our favorite things about Donald? He just can't resist taking a good selfie.

Showroom Design Inspiration: Jackie O.

All it takes is the mention of a single name to conjure up an entire era, a signature style, a powerful statement that plays over and over through the years, resonating with anyone, regardless of age.

It is a name that brings to mind impeccable style, attention to color, and classically evolving designs.

We named one of the looks of our showrooms after Jackie O. because of the modern, clean lines of some of our newest products which is often represented in her style. We also played with absence of color in our showrooms, along with pops of white and movement through color and form that flirts with the line between the past and the present resulting in the following mood board:
