Our involvement started as a simple contribution for a beautiful cause. The Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving was the charitable recipient at this year’s First Lady’s Luncheon hosted by the Congressional Club.
American Grown Flowers and David Beahm Experiences were teaming up to provide floral designs for the luncheon, and Accent Decor had the honor of contributing floral vases (the Desiray Collection and Baleri Compote to be exact) for the finishing touch to those beautiful, American grown blooms designed by Andrea Gagnon of LynnVale Studios. Delaware Valley, Smithers Oasis, and Transflora also contributed goods and services.

With the the luncheon’s theme emphasizing Georgia culture and businesses, it meant a lot for Margaret Hofland, co-founder and Art Director of Accent Decor, to attend.
After all, that’s how the Congressional Club was formed. Founded in 1908, the purpose of the club was to provide a non-partisan setting for friendships among the spouses of members of the House and Senate in Washington D.C.
Margaret’s favorite part of the luncheon was Michelle Obama’s speech on the importance of supporting your spouse.
“It was about how connecting with each other and your family results in making a better country,” Margaret said. “It was inspiring and personal. She was so easy to relate to.”

From a southern-inspired menu including Georgia corn pudding, and griddle biscuits with Georgia peach salad to the inspiring performances, it was definitely an event to remember for Margaret.

“The David Beahm team worked tirelessly to deliver beautifully arranged florals that not only adorned the tabletops, but lined the runway as well,” Margaret said. “They worked until 2AM that morning to ensure that every bloom was properly in its place.”
At the luncheon, guests had the opportunity to purchase floral arrangements in order to support the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving, an advocacy, research, education and service unit that provides support for both professional and family caregivers.
The Accent Decor family is honored that our contribution of the Desiray Collection and Baleri Compote could be given for such an outstanding cause.
