Watch Now: 5 Elements of a Modern and Eclectic Product Display

We may have had too much fun putting together this playful, eclectic, and modern showroom display focused on one of our favorite trending plants: the cactus! A lot of our customers ask us how we created certain displays during market season, so our friend Tony Devictor (who also built these fantastic wood installations by the way) put together this video to show the five elements that help pull this Cactus Party look together.

1. Add a Pop of Color

We created an accent wall by picking out a warm and fun paint color that matched our southwestern theme, but also provided a good contrast for our wood installation display and products. For this look, we used Sherwin Williams "Ravishing Coral."

2. Build a playful wood installation

Our showroom display designer extraordinaire, Tony Devictor, used simple wood boards that he cut in various lengths and screws to hold them in place in order to create these fun installations that fan out and frame the products.

Tony used 1x6x8 foot boards for the display and 2 and 3-inch screws to fasten it all together.

3. Get Wild

We used a mix of adventurous prints with some of our antelope heads to give the display a fun, wild look.

4. Eclectic Product Groupings

We mixed our ceramic, metal, and wood products in all shapes, sizes, and colors, to bring some life to the shelving and add textural dimension.

5. Final Touch - Cactus

Our "Cactus Party" look wouldn't be complete without the cactus. Kick it up a notch by adding bright paint accents to the cactus and decorative rocks to the containers to add contrast.

Mood Board: Vintage Glam Wedding Inspiration

As we work to put together new shoots for our next catalog, we always try to find those unique looks that surface in the industry and really go in a direction that seems to elevate what's currently trending.

One of the looks we're inspired by this year is the moody art deco wedding. Incorporating dark, dramatic colors with a vintage glamour look brings a splash of modernity to an otherwise traditional landscape. Our floral director, Joyce Mason-Monheim, used deep reds and dark fruits to accent gold and black products for a sultry, art-deco influence.

** That black and gold footed platter? You're going to have to hold your horses on that one. ;)

This year, we achieved this look by combining brass with black glass and mercury finishes. We also love the idea of incorporating aged stone pieces with an elegant shape like the Budapest Urn pictured above. Combine the following to continue the dramatic, vintage glam look:

Showroom Design Story: Sun-Streamed Rooms

When we think of retreat, when we think of oasis, we picture bright, airy rooms filled with greenery, and the warmth of sunlight streaming through windows, bouncing off sea glass that looks as if it washed up on the shore of the Mediterranean.

Can you see it now? By day, a breeze whispers through curtains for walls. When the last of light fades, lanterns wink in the balmy night.

This is what we wanted to convey in one of our showroom designs - an outdoor space brought inside, the notion of sunlight streaming in working to heal, working to rejuvenate.

Design Idea - use sea glass instead of gravel - from Accent Decor

From privacy walls in urban gardens to sun rooms with floor to ceiling windows, we wanted to create an escape that mimicked the places we love that help bring a little style and function to our favorite outdoor living spaces.  Above, we chose our sea foam sea glass instead of gravel to pop against our concrete planters. Below, we staggered warm brown newport boats and vases and hung carafe vases and our roped hanging globes to soften the look of a cement brick wall.

Ambiente Trends & Inspiration - Frankfurt

In February, the buying team traveled to Frankfurt, Germany to attend the Ambiente Show, a leading international trade fare for dining, gift, and home decor goods.

Our creative director, Sarah Bagle, took photos of what inspired her on the trip. Here's a look at what stood out to her:

From Sarah: "A favorite spot to visit at Ambiente is Rosenthal. They are a porcelain company that is over 100 years old. They continue to innovate with their displays and always make themselves a "must see" destination.

From Sarah: "One of my favorite booths to visit for floral inspiration is Dutz Collection. They carry beautiful Romanian glass in vibrant colors. Their booth is always overloaded with florals designed in a clean, eye-catching way."

At Ambiente, the theme for the cafe is always changing, and this year, it transformed into "Flowers in Scene" by Kim Phong Thui of Phoenix Flowers. A cafe filled to the brim in flowers? What better way to enjoy a cup of coffee?

Egg Head

As our collection of products grows, we're definitely seeing an Egg theme emerge. From the elegant, gold-rimmed cracked edge of the Evelyn Pot, to the literal shell shape of the Egg Pot, we've got quite a grouping, but we especially love the Duo Vase with it's minty color accent, and variety of clusters.

Pretty Pastels

With pieces like the Cherish Votives and Sky Votives, pastel pinks, greens, and blues reflect the colors we anticipate to see in the beautiful blooms that begin to show during the Spring season.
