The 2011 MS Walk

Margaret Hofland started Accent Décor 14 years ago with her husband, Frank. She is now co-owner and the Marketing Manager. Margaret puts in long hours and works harder than anyone else I know, which is even more impressive once you hear Margaret’s story…

Margaret attended Sheraton College, an art school in Ontario, Canada. She graduated, had 3 children, and loved her work illustrating for children’s books. It was then that she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

MS is a chronic, often disabling disease that attacks the central nervous system (CNS), which is made up of the brain, spinal cord, and optic nerves. Symptoms may be mild, such as numbness in the limbs, or severe, such as paralysis or loss of vision. The progress, severity, and specific symptoms of MS are unpredictable and vary from one person to another. Learn more about MS at: http://www.nationalmssociety.org/index.aspx

Margaret realized that she could not continue on the career path she had planned for herself. However, she did not give up and let go of her artistic talents. Instead, she put them to good use in new ways. She now designs Accent Décor’s catalog, flyers, website and revamps our showrooms every 6 months.

Margaret has given so much to Accent Décor and we want to give what we can back to her. Margaret’s family has made it a tradition to participate in MS Walk Atlanta every year. This year, Accent Décor wants to get involved. Accent Décor has pledged to match every donation our team raises dollar for dollar up to $5,000! That means we could potentially give $10,000 to the National MS Society in order to research for a cure! We need your help though… feel free to come join us in Atlanta on April 9 or help us by providing a donation.
